Thornley Group at the 3rd Annual Clinical Governance Conference 20th-21st July 2010, Auckland

Thornley Group will be presenting a workshop at the 3rd Annual Clinical Governance for the NZ Health Sector Conference. The subject of the workshop is 'Developing Metrics Around Clinical Governance and Ensuring Value for Dollar'.

Clinical governance is about improving patient outcomes and streamlining the progress. In the current environment there has been an increased focus on ensuring you get value for dollar.  In this workshop we explore how concepts and metrics from different industries can be brought to bear upon the health sector.

• Turning measurements into dollar figures
• Calculating ROI and using the figures to fine tune the process
• Developing matching cost reduction methods

The use of Lean and Six Sigma basedmetrics to identify cost drivers and steer resources to value adding activities will be highlighted along with basic Return on Investment (ROI) approaches.

Thornley Group and NZOQ Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training 2010

Thornley Group & the NZOQ have established a partnership for the delivery of world class training in Lean Six Sigma. This will lead to certification by the NZOQ, New Zealand's most respected and credible source for quality training. Certification by the NZOQ provides the confidence that the training and certification process is robust and of a recognised national standard. The training course offered will be Lean Six Sigma Green Belt which is a 10 day course split into two 5 day modules.

Thornley Group make gains for Fisher & Paykel Healthcare

Thornley Group are helping Fisher & Paykel Healthcare deliver significant benefits at their East Tamaki manufacturing facility.  Thornley Group consultants Lloyd Murphy, Nigel Grigg and Mel Thornley have been working with the management, engineers and workforce to reduce lead times and improve productivity.  Sustainability is being built in with training and mentoring along with the full support of the senior management team.  Over a three month period, a combination of waste elimination through Lean and process improvement using a Six Sigma approach have led to substantial performance improvements.

 

Thornley Group at the Lean Healthcare Summit 8th-9th June 2009, Wellington

Thornley Group Director Mel Thornley will be presenting a workshop at the Lean Healthcare Summit at the Wellington Town Hall in Wellington on 9th June.  The workshop aims to show how Healthcare can learn from and benchmark against other industries that have been making 'Lean' happen for a long time.  Healthcare is not a 'special case' and the methodologies that are successfully used in Car Manufacture, banking and food processing are directly transferrable.  This workshop will highlight the myths that surround the challenge of implementing lean outside of manufacturing.

 

Thornley Group at the Strategic Cost Reduction Conference 16th June 2009, Auckland

Thornley Group Director Mel Thornley is presenting a case for Lean at the Strategic Cost Reduction conference at the Stamford Plaze in Auckland on 16th June.  This will be a general overview of how lean is a specific strategy for delivering sustainable low cost capability into the future.  Cost reduction whilst increasing output and capacity will be shown to be reasonable outcomes of lean thinking and examples of successful implementations will be presented.
